Hundreds of Marylanders Offer letters of Well
Wishes to Senator Barbara Mikulski
Annapolis MD, July 29, 2009 - In a heartwarming
response to the news of Senator Barbara
Mikulski’s recent ankle surgery, more than 400
Marylanders from across the state sent the
Senior Senator letters of well-wishes.
The letters took different approaches. Some
contained messages of encouragement, urging the
senator to “use this time to get reenergized
for us,” while others commended her support of
healthcare reform. Still, others took a more
light-hearted approach and commented that they
“would like to see the other end of that
kick.”
The surgery performed at Mercy Medical Center
located in Baltimore City, was a result of an
injury in which the senator broke her ankle in
3 places while walking down a set of stairs.
Doctors reported that the surgery went well and
predicted a full recovery. Senator Mikulski
released a message thanking those who sent her
well wishes and reaffirmed her commitment to
healthcare reform.
