Governor Martin O’Malley: A Strong Leader in Tough Times

Marylanders Approve of Steady Progress

The Washington Post poll released today shows a majority of Marylanders approve of the job performance of Governor Martin O’Malley.

“Nearly all Maryland voters are worried about the economy, and about two-thirds are concerned about their family finances, the poll found.

Voters' dour outlook has no discernable effect on how they view O'Malley's performance, however. Fifty-three percent say they approve of the way the governor is handling his job, while 37 percent disapprove. Those numbers are about the same as a year ago, the last time The Post conducted a Maryland poll. [Washington Post, October 22, 2008]

A statement from Michael Cryor, Chair of the Maryland Democratic Party:

“Governor O’Malley was elected to right the fiscal ship of state and keep Maryland a leader in education, health care and the environment. Meeting those challenges and securing those investments in our economy and our future is what our Governor has done even in tough times.

Marylanders are getting the steady progress we deserve under this administration. Tough decisions had to be made and there are more to come. Most Marylanders are saying they understand the challenges and endorse the path we’ve taken under Gov. O’Malley and our Democratic leadership in the General Assembly.”
