Bio

Peter Franchot was first elected to the House of Delegates in 1986. He was elected Comptroller of Maryland in 2006.

During his career in public service, Peter has written legislation to lower tuition at our public colleges and universities and has vigorously fought for increased funding for education at every level. He has been a defender of the environment, fighting to preserve the Chesapeake Bay and was a co-author of a Constitutional amendment to protect Maryland's public parks.

Thanks to Peter, many cheap handguns and assault weapons were banned and are now off our streets. In addition, he has fought to raise our state's minimum wage, to increase access to health care for all Marylander's, and passed legislation that returned over $500 million to Maryland homeowners through tax rebates.
