Bio

Casey moved to Maryland in 1974 as a young child. His parents, Casey Sr. and Stevie, worked hard, but times were tough.

Casey showed signs of leadership at an early age. He excelled in school and sports. At McDonogh High School in Owings Mills, Casey served in student government, made the honor roll and captained the state’s number one football team, earning numerous All-Star honors. His classmates named him “most enthusiastic” and he proudly made the graduation address.Casey went onto the University of Arizona where he majored in Political Science and played on the defensive line for the school's nationally ranked football team.

Casey started his career even before graduation, taking an entry level producing job at the ABC station in Tucson. Juggling school, sports and an overnight job taught Casey how to budget his time, prioritize and work quickly. Television led Casey and Emily on an odyssey crisscrossing the country. From Arizona to Alabama, Florida to Washington State, Ohio to Pennsylvania and finally home to Maryland in 2002. It was always Emily and Casey’s goal to raise their children in Maryland and they are now happy to be home.

While reporting and producing news on TV, Casey won seven Emmy Awards and a Peabody (Television’s Pulitzer) for exposing illegal, unsafe or unethical practices. In one case, Casey pursued a tip that the town of Centreville, MD was pumping millions of gallons of untreated sewage into the Chesapeake Bay. As a result of the investigation, the town manager, plant manager and town attorney were fired, laws were tightened and a criminal investigation was launched. “Good journalists should be shining light in places other people can’t see. They need to give a voice to the little guy who alone does not have a voice.” Casey said.

During his time in television, Casey ascended into management, working as an Executive Producer and Assistant News Director at some of the country's most respected stations. Casey ran the day-to-day operation of the newsroom in Philadelphia with more then 150 employees working in concert under extreme deadlines. Everywhere Casey worked, he helped bring labor harmony by working directly with the union leadership to resolve issues quickly and fairly.

After leaving television news in 2005, Casey joined his family’s international manufacturing business, making mostly woven labels for clothing. This career change has given Casey hands-on experience in international markets, currency exchanges, trade and tariff policy, international environmental law and human rights. Casey has travelled all over the world and seen the impact of US economic policy on the rest of the world. He has also seen firsthand how China’s investment in infrastructure looms as another challenge for America.

Casey and Emily live in Carroll County with their two children, Casey III and Lindsey, as well as their three dogs. Casey III is a teenager who prefers to stay out of the spotlight, while Lindsey can't get enough of it. Casey helps coach Lindsey’s soccer team, The Westminster Grey Wolves, currently ranked in the top 10 in the country. He is proud to teach another generation that success is achievable through hard work and passion.

Now, Casey wants to use his diverse life experience and passion for service to give the people of the 6th district A New Voice in Washington.
